About Brotherhood

Sobriety – one of the main Christian virtues. This is the way to God, which supposes constant inner vigilance and observation one’s own thoughts, feelings and actions. A man should learn to do good, to have clear thoughts, to look at the world with clear eyes and to see God’s Sight in everything. The way of sobriety implies the soberness of life, that is deliberate and total refusal of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. How can we be vigilant if our consciousness is stupefied? Being sober, we’ve got an opportunity to follow the way of sobriety.

Our Brotherhood unites people who are looking for real happiness. Happiness means to support one’s neighbor, to help an unfortunate one, to warm to a child, to hear and understand a wise man’s words. There’s no more happiness than having Christ in your heart. Sobriety is the way to God!

All Russian meeting of Orthodox teetotalers

 From July, 1 to July,7 2010 the 12th All Russian meeting of Orthodox teetotalers will be held on the bank of the Wilda Lake. The lessons of good virtue.

          

      In Ukraine, in young developing Donbass, in a small railway town of Yasinovataya a few years ago church bells rang and golden domes shone. But Orthodox people admire not only the architecture of the cathedral and the blissful church services.

      There is Sunday school at Svyatopokrovsky Church. Three groups of children ( primary, middle and senior) study the basis of Orthodox way of life there. The communication with churchmen, with different interesting people, pilgrim trips and lessons have strong impact on children’s impressionable souls. On the following pages there are some episodes from the life of young Christians.

Churching as a means to restore spiritual and religious traditions in the young.

An extended panel meeting of the Juvenile Committee in the Kazan eparchy took place in the monastery of St. John the Baptist on the 15 April. The meeting involved members of the Juvenile division of the Kazan eparchy, regional representatives of the Committee, leaders of the youth communities from Nabrejnye Chelny, Nignekamsk, Zaimsk, Alekseevsk, Bolgar and other towns and villages of Tatarstan.

Joint efforts of the Church and the state in the struggle with the vice.

On  April, 22 in Donetsk, within the bounds of the conference ‘The problem of alcoholism and drug taking in Ukraine. The participation of Ukrainian Orthodox Church in deciding this problem’, there was a round-table discussion on the topic ‘The dialogue between the state and the Orthodox church as for drug addicts’ rehabilitation.’ The clergymen, doctors, state and legal officials from Kiev, Donetsk, Melitopol and Moscow took part in that meeting.
